Jayne C. Gershkowitz, Chief Patient Advocate
Jayne joined Amicus in June 2006 and currently serves as the Chief Patient Advocate. She founded Amicus’ Patient Advisory Boards program and manages Healing Beyond Disease™. She is a long-time patient advocacy professional with expertise in the lysosomal and broader rare disease community. Previously, Jayne served as Executive Director at the National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases (NTSAD) Association. Her earlier career experience encompasses newspaper journalism, corporate and non-profit marketing communications, and board development.
Jeanette Crandall, Director of Patient Advocacy and Community Relations
Jeanette joined Amicus in 2005 and supports the company's volunteerism, philanthropy, and collaborations with rare disease organizations and industry partners. Passionate about community engagement, she excels at fostering meaningful relationships within diverse patient communities. Her unique perspective and commitment to the patient community make her a significant force in promoting a caring and inclusive environment at Amicus.
Gail Brophy
Gail is the P&PA Executive Assistant and supports the team’s activities. She has been with Amicus since 2018. Gail enjoys working with and supporting the P&PA team. She loves being part of a team that is truly passionate and committed to putting patients first to transform lives in the rare disease community each and every day.
Amanda Sowinski, LSW
Amanda joined Amicus in 2018 and is a master’s level licensed social worker with a concentration in healthcare. Her experience includes behavior management with children and adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, case management and mental health support for people living with chronic health conditions. Amanda has experience as a residential therapist for youth with a history of trauma, abuse, neglect, and chronic medical issues. She is a certified member of the mental health first aid program at Amicus, a volunteer program to support the physical and mental health and well-being of employees.
Paul Howard, Senior Director of Public Policy
Paul joined Amicus in September 2019, overseeing the implementation of public policy initiatives in the U.S. to shape legislative, reimbursement, and regulatory environments for rare and genomic disorder treatments. Previously, he served as Senior Advisor to the Commissioner of the U.S. FDA (2017-19), focusing on regulatory policy, innovation initiatives, and enhancing public health and safety. He also held the role of Chief Strategy Officer for the INFORMED Program during his tenure at the FDA.
