Being persistently positive in the face of rare disease™

MEET THE CARTERS

Tucked away on the southern coast of England is the city of Portsmouth, where Margot Carter and her family live. Margot’s husband, two sons, and daughter Naomi, have all been influenced by her optimistic outlook on life.

The Carters have more challenges than the average family: Margot lives with epilepsy, and her daughter Naomi lives with Fabry disease. Recognizing the impact that chronic and rare diseases may have, Margot looked for—and found—an opportunity to help herself and her family stay positive.

THE REMARKABLE IMPACT OF OPTIMISM

The Carter family’s “good stuff” jar helps them stay optimistic despite daily challenges. Their experience reinforces scientific research that has found an association between optimism and better mental health and improved quality of life.1 This impact of optimism can be part of your life, too.

With the creation of Our Good Stuff™, we want to harness the Carter family’s experience and share it with others, in the hope that even the simplest moments can help lead to inspiring outcomes.
